Stunning autumn colors in the Finger Lakes

Go Leaf Peeping & Marvel at the Cozy Colors

In our neck of the woods, gorgeous fall colors don’t end in October. That’s when the colorful party is just getting started! Last year we enjoyed strong fall colors through early November. There are endless ways to soak in the majesty of the foliage. Take a leisurely driving tour around town or get a little exercise in with a brisk walk in the chilly autumn air.

Insider’s Tip: Keep an eye on how our local foliage is progressing by following the latest leaf peeping updates. That way you’ll know exactly what to expect when you arrive.

Wine, cheese and grabs on a warm fall night

Hit the Wine Trails to Sip & Savor

Apple cider isn’t the only fabulous fall beverage you can enjoy when summer ends. Check out our favorite nearby wine trails and treat yourself to the best local flavors. The Seneca Lake Wine Trail features over 30 wineries and will truly immerse you in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country. Kick off the holiday season at Keuka Lake Wine Trail with their festive holiday events which include tastings of the finest wine, hearty seasonal food, gift shops, and more. And for something extra special, check out the Annual Shopping Spree at Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, November 22-24, 2019. Enjoy a sip of Sangiovese and a taste of Merlot while you check off your holiday shopping list. It’s the most fun way to multitask. Sip sip hooray!

Insider’s Tip: Keuka Holidays sells out every year! Snag your tickets early so you don’t miss out.

Person making a glass creation

Get Artsy & Create a Unique Treasure

If you haven’t visited the Corning Museum of Glass yet, you’re missing out. Make your own glass creations, like ornaments or seasonal decorations. The process only takes 20-40 minutes, so you can enjoy the experience and still have time to do everything else on your vacation list!

Insider’s Tip: Don’t think your one-of-a-kind creation would look right in your own space? Give it away this holiday season to someone who would love a handmade gift.

Person walking through fall leaves

Take a Hike & Experience Nature Up Close

If you’re up for more than a little walk, get outside and take a hike! Visit our personal favorite destination, Watkins Glen State Park, an easy one mile walk from the Inn’s “secret entrance!” (Marcus can tell you more over breakfast.) We also recommend consulting the Watkins Glen Chamber Hiking Guide or Ithaca’s Trail Guide to choose the perfect trail for your own leaf-crunching hike.

Insider’s Tip: If you want to leaf peep up close or spot woodland creatures during your excursions, pack a camera and binoculars for the optimal experience!
