Breakfast is served from 8am until 9am. The menu varies daily and seasonally, but there is always plenty of something either sweet or savory to enjoy. We will gladly accommodate special dietary requirements; advance notice is appreciated.
The Dowds aren’t sure how they started cooking breakfast for so many teenagers, but they know when that happened – water polo season. With two athletes growing up in the Dowd house and occasionally another one or two adopted sons on a couch or extra bed, breakfast was always an important meal. Marcus started cooking a regular weekly hearty eggs and bacon breakfast for the boys who stopped by on their way to school/morning practice. Elin usually cooked special breakfasts on weekends, primarily for the girls, that included powdered sugar covered “Sharon’s Pancakes,” heart shaped waffles, and breakfast casserole for the days when they had to rush. One post, Snapchat, or Instagram led to setting the table for more friends to join. When preparing meals for guests, it is the fond memories of those mornings and the love they feel in their hearts for their extended family that motivates the Dowds to make your meals with them special.
With the delicious complimentary breakfast at our Finger Lakes B&B, you might get Elin’s famous French toast casserole or world renowned breakfast casserole (sausage, cheese and eggs over a crispy crust), or maybe the breakfast burritos that were so popular in California, now an east coast specialty.
Farm Fresh Ingredients and Produce
Upstate New York provides many seasonal opportunities to secure fresh produce and other ingredients – In spring and summer roadside stands are abundant. Amish farms are in the neighborhood, and in the fall apple farms provide crisp fresh apples only found in NY and sweet cider.
The Dowds look forward to utilizing the local farmer’s markets and farms to bring the freshest of seasonal ingredients to their table.
